Reef Vipers are hostile aquatic animals found on the beaches of Summerset. They appear to be related to Lesser Sea Adders. Maormer often keep them on hand to aid them in their assaults on the island. Reef Vipers are an invasive species on Wasten Coraldale.
Skills and Abilities[edit]
- Though diminutive, and kept as pets by some adventuring sorts, the Sea Adder is a deadlier serpent compared even to the giant snake, preferring to get up close to its opponents. They also carry a sticky internal fluid that aids in catching and digesting the snake's prey. The larger Reef Viper is even more deadly, and a Boss variant is more deadly still. — Prima guide description[1]:217
- Bite
- The snake strikes at a target within melee range. Can be avoided.
- Spring
- The snake coils up and launches into the air, rapidly gliding towards the target. This is a gap closer.
- Constricting Strike
- The snake rises, then launches an attack. You will be stunned if you don't block, as the reef viper attempts to coil around you and bite you. You'll be knocked to the ground after it releases you. If you block, the enemy will be knocked off-balance.
- Bile Sac
- The snake regurgitates its last meal and projects it at you. This creates sticky AoEs that snare you if you step in them. Move out of the circle to break free or wait until the pools expire. Bile Sac is an indirect attack.
Boss variants of the Reef Viper have unique abilities. Which bosses? Section should be added there instead as this section is for generic vipers
- Swipe
- The viper coils up tightly, then ascends before uncoiling and striking for physical damage. Dodge or block to avoid knockback and knockdown effects.
- Slam
- The snake coils and leaps into the air, then lands forcefully. The impact sends an AoE wave out from beneath the viper. Waterspouts may spring up randomly, causing players hit by them to be flung into the air. This must be avoided.
- Reposition
- The viper attempts to jump to a new part of the arena. This is the farthest the otherwise stationary viper will travel. This ability is not used aggressively.
- Splatter
- Tiny spawning snakes appear under and around the foe. When stepped on, the baby adders explode, snaring you. Ranged players may have the most trouble dodging and avoiding the baby snakes.
- Screech
- Towards the end of the fight, the viper may emit an inhuman screech. If this happens, all spawned baby adders will seek out the closest player and explode. More baby adders will spawn around the boss to threaten players who fight in melee range. The snake spawn's explosions will be faster at this point, and their snares a bit more effective. If you're hit by multiple snake explosions, you can be knocked down.
